Foot deep pothole at 12am last night. Wasn't there a few hours before either. Bent up the wheel on my less-than-a-month-old ST. It doesn't look too bad, and it holds air so I'm going to get the suspension checked out, and an alignment done. Girlfriend's dad was in front of me in a Silverado 2500HD, and hit it so hard it knocked the check engine light on. No clue why yet.
Think the wheel can be repaired? Or am I about to be out a butt ton of money from the dealer?
Also, looking for a wheel repair shop 'round Westchester NY / Southern CT. Please HALP :(
Looking forward to caffeine & carbs next Sunday though!

so the Silverado's check engine light is on? the solution is sell all4 wheels and buy 4 steelies

My Dad and Uncle own a repair shop in Carmel, NY and we deal with a wheel repair vendor. The guy does great work an even color matches OE wheel colors after truing, He did my brother's Evo X MR wheels and you would never know they were touched.
We also do alignments and can check to see if anything got bent.
Their number is (845) 228-4262, ask for John

Yeah. It's probably some other issue with the truck, since it's got a shit ton of miles and probably has some maintenance due. Almost stalled pre- pothole. That's besides the point though. Next winter I'm getting a winter setup (for sure…) with steelies and winter tires. Got lucky that it didn't' snow again, but running the F1's in cold temps has been a bitch. My ST's got 2200 miles on it and already needs a fix in'.

i feel you. The pothole i hit ended up causing a check engine light, and stopped my odometer.
If its less than a month old, id give the dealership a call and at least see what options are available. Youre not locked into anything just yet.

F'ing potholes

Yeah gonna call them tomorrow and see what the prices are like on a new wheel. From what I've read on FocusST.org, one wheel is around 500. I'll pay if I need to, since I really love my car, but I'm exploring other options too.

Alright great. I'll give em a call tomorrow. Thanks man!

No problem!
It is a small Oppo world haha.

Is your ST a fiesta? Because if it is, it'll be the 3rd (or 4th) fiesta to have sustained damage here on oppo!

Damn that's serious. I wonder if you could file a complaint with the city and see if they will pay for it? Don't know if that's even possible, but maybe worth a try.

Here are some Jalop-ish vehicles we work on which doubles as a shameless plug on my part lol

Time for new wheels :D Go to the aftermarket son!

Oh, that terrible, terrible feeling right after you hit it, when you briefly wish you could go back in time and dodge the damned thing, before quickly realizing that what's done is done.
Seriously, sorry about the wheel.

If it does not leak, leave it. Check boneyards from time to time for a used one?
![]() 03/30/2014 at 16:09 |

Well, i guess im saying is maybe there is some sort of possible coverage for something like that being so new. But i could be wrong as ive never had a new car. If you are going to pay 500 for one wheel, id peruse CL for a possible set and keep the current set as a backup for situations like this or to keep a full size spare in the car.

I know that feeling! You start blaming yourself and thinking "if only I was in the next lane or if only I was looking out more"
![]() 03/30/2014 at 16:21 |
|
Exactly! "But everyone is okay" is the important part, but somehow doesn't make you feel better about your new car's owie.

Negative. Focus. STill (hah.) I've heard there's been quite a few bends this year..

They do offer coverage, but you usually have to purchase it BEFORE something like this happens...
![]() 03/30/2014 at 16:29 |
|
Haha nothing wrong with that!
![]() 03/30/2014 at 16:31 |

.... theres no easy way around that i suppose. Good luck with the endeavor. Just keep searching on CL and ebay in the meantime to educate yourself on what is reasonable to pay.

Yep :(

Thanks for the link man... But the OEM wheels are silver. (Or rado grey). Mine are silver.

That's why I got the extended wheel/tire warranty; because Michigan. That sucks.

Michigan roads are the worst! When I was there the saturn ion I rented had part of the dash come off.

Aluminum wheel? If so, don't bother repairing it, just replace it.

bleeeh. Calling around tomorrow to get a price. I've heard arguments for both sides.
![]() 03/30/2014 at 18:20 |

I considered this. NYS and Westchester county are pains in the asses to try and get reimbursement for. Also, they filled it in already... I seem to be the casualty..
![]() 03/30/2014 at 18:31 |

We should all drive around with cheap steelies so we won't freak about pot holes!
![]() 03/30/2014 at 18:31 |

People sell sets for less than that on FST.org I think. I have a set that will go up there, but not for another year.
![]() 03/30/2014 at 18:37 |
|
Yeah I'm also looking on there. Only problem is I don't need a whole set. Just a single one. Gonna PM some guys on there and hope for the best.

Sorry, just looked based on shape from the back. Hope this works out for you.

Willing to drive to the New Haven Area? Go to Precision Wheel Service. It's a 2-man operation (and a massive Great Dane), and this guy knows his stuff.
When I cracked my Peg on the George Washington Bridge, he was able to fix it in 24hrs. I think he charged $120 for the service. No problems since.

Wanted to thank you again for the referral man, but I think I'm going to the dealership on this one. Looks like I'm covered for alignments under 12k /2 years. And I'm at < 1 month and < 3k miles. I'll keep you in mind for next time though.

No worries, man! I don't blame you for going back to the dealership with such a new vehicle.
I'm sure they'll hook you up and it will be just like new. Enjoy the ST!
